Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #51

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to look at the #51 ranked Spartan in 2011.

Travis Jackson

SD 2011 Ranking : #51

Position: Center

Experience : Redshirt Freshman

Strengths : Athletic offensive lineman who should push those in front of him.

Weakness : No on the field experience.

Jackson may not be the answer this fall, but his star is rising and he should get some chances to get a few reps and lots of practice reps.

Overall : Young player who may still be a year away from being the player everyone feels he's capable of being. Should push those in front of him to stay sharp on their game.

Why He Made The List : Travis Jackson is expected to be a solid player at some point in his Spartans career. While we do not see it being this fall, we do feel this season will go a long way in his overall development as he'll be expected to push for a starting job in the spring. However, nothing is set in stone at the center spot after the graduation of John Stipek from last year's team. Could Jackson be one of those surprises in camp?
