Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #49

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to look at the #49 ranked Spartan in 2011.

Mitchell White / Dana Dixon

SD 2011 Ranking : #49 a/b

Position: Cornerback

Experience : Redshirt Junior / Redshirt Sophomore

Strengths : Solid backups fighting to get more time on the field.

Weakness : May not be able to beat out players ahead of them to become starters.

White earned his way in the Spartans program having gone from walk-on to scholarship player prior to the 2010 season. He now has earned two letters in his career and should continue being a solid backup and special team's player.

Dixon earned his first letter in 2010 and will look to battle for more on field time in the fall.

Overall : One of the things that has hurt the Spartans in previous years has been depth at corner. White and Dixon provide that depth as they backup Johnny Adams. However, both players provide depth as the Spartans have done a solid job in recruiting some top young corners in the past couple of years.

Why They Made The List : Every program in the country has players like Mitchell White and Dana Dixon that understand their role and work with the goal of becoming a starter. Both are solid and provide great depth at corner.
