Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #48

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to look at the #48 ranked Spartan in 2011.

Mylan Hicks

SD 2011 Ranking : #48

Position: Safety / Cornerback

Experience : Redshirt Freshman

Strengths : Young player with high expectations who can play safety or corner.

Weakness : No game action to this point.

We gave Hicks a high ranking last season hoping he would be a factor on the field. However, the Detroit native was redshirted. This year we feel Hicks can be more productive but ranked several spots lower.

Overall : A highly ranked prospect coming out of high school many felt Hicks would have a chance last season to get on field reps. That did not happen as Isaiah Lewis pushed ahead. This year Spartan fans should see more of Hicks.

Why They Made The List : The talent is there and now it's just a matter of showing it on the field when it matters. Hicks has the ability to play either safety or corner, and should be expected to be a solid backup this season before pushing for starting time in 2012.
