Kimbrough Hearing from Spartans

Junior linebacker Tim Kimbrough is hearing from many programs early in the recruiting process. One program the Indianapolis native is hearing from is Michigan State. Spartan Digest spoke with Kimbrough to get the latest.

Michigan State has made a name as a place where linebackers can go and have great success. That has not been lost on Class of 2013 linebacker Tim Kimbrough who has been hearing from the Spartans.

"Michigan State has sent me a lot of letters and information already. They are a program I've got a lot of interest in learning more about."

For the 6-foot-1, 215-pound product of Indianapolis (IN) Warren Central, one of the reasons he's excited about the Spartans is their conference affiliation and a former linebacker.

"One of the reasons I have Michigan State on my early list is because of watching Greg Jones play there. I also like the fact they play in the Big Ten."

Could the Spartans see Kimbrough make a campus visit?

"I'm hopeful to get up there for a game this season to see what it is like.

With teammates ahead of him earning scholarship offers, Kimbrough uses their success for his own motivation.

"Watching guys like Sheldon (Day) makes me even more motivated to play hard so I can also get offers like he's gotten."

Expectations are high for Warren Central this fall and Kimbrough knows he's got parts of his game that are stronger than others.

"The strength of my game is my play making abilities as I know how to get to the ball. I've got good instincts but know I need to work on my speed and strength. I'm really looking forward to this season to show my improvements."

What are the things he's looking for in a college program?

"Education and tradition are very important to me. The school must have a good history and be a hard working and hitting team."
