Crystal Ball Week 2

A year ago believed Michigan Sate was in for a special run during the 2010 college football season. We went out on a limb and predicted Mark Dantonio's team would go undefeated and took some ribbing from those who did not believe. How do we see 2011 working out? Our Crystal Ball is back.

FAU 2010 Record: 4-8

Last Game Against FAU: Last season the Spartans played an away game against the Owls in Detroit. While FAU hoped to cash in on playing their home game close to their opponents home, it did not help their teams development on the field as the Spartans knocked the Owls from their perch 30-17.

Howard Schnellenberger is back for another season on the sidelines for the Owls as the building process continues under the legendary ball coach. While the former Miami coach has used his influence in building the Owls program from the ground up since 2000, his main focus has been to build a fan base and raise money for the building a new stadium.

The stadium is build and the program on the field is still a work in progress. How much longer will Schnellenberger walk the sidelines? Many feel this could be his last.

The Owls will always have a few athletes to compete, however, they lack the firepower needed to beat a team in the position the Spartans are in this season.

The Owls will be moving to a 3-4 defense this season and senior Kevin Cyrille is expected to be the anchor of the d-line. AT 6-foot-4, 275-pounds, the Miami, Florida native has proven capable of causing havoc and has recorded 18 tackles for loss and 5 sacks during his career.

He will be joined by Jarvis Givens another product out of Miami who came on last season posting 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack. Another player who came on last season was Jamere Johnson who posted 3 sacks to go with 8.5 tackles for loss.

The offense will look to senior running back Alfred Morris who rushed for 54 yards and a score last year against the Spartans to go with his 928 yards on the season.

The quarterback position looks to be a battle between David Kooi who has played in 7 games during his career and Graham Wilbert who has only seen time in two games.

The Spartans offensive line will be tested in this game and it should prove to help in their development before heading for their first road test.

The Spartans defense should have a chance to place pressure on the Owls and help the offense with getting great field position.

In the end feels the Spartans will have too much firepower and should continue their winning ways with a solid victory. Crystal Ball Prediction: Spartans Win – 37-10
