Camp Performance Turns to Offer

Mark Dantonio loves it when prospects come to camp and earn their offers. For this Ohio defensive back, his camp performance turned enough heads for the Spartans to now offer. We have the latest.

Canton (Ohio) McKinley High School is one of the more historic high school football programs in the country. While the Bulldogs may not be the powerhouse of years gone by, they still can produce some top talent.

Jermaine Edmondson is one of the latest college prospects to suit up for the Bulldogs and now he holds an offer from Michigan State. How does getting an offer from the Spartans feel? "It feels pretty good," Edmondson told Spartan Digest. "I have about nine offers now, but I've got high interest in Michigan State and they are in my Top Five."

For Edmondson the trips to East Lansing and the Spartans coaching staff have impressed him.

"I've visited Michigan State a few times now and I really like their campus and coaching staff."

During his recent camping experience, the 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back had a chance to work with Spartans defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett.

"Coach Barnett really liked the way I played defense and how quick I am and my height. So he was pretty impressed with me and really coached my up pretty good when I was there."

Edmondson claims distance is not a matter when it comes to making his college decision. So when is he looking to end the recruiting process?

"There really is no telling, but I would like to be committed before our first game this season."

How did he learn of his MSU offer?

"My coach said I needed to call Coach Narduzzi and when I called him, he told me they were offering me. I also talked with Coach Dantonio and Coach Barnett. They seemed very excited about offering me."

Spartan Digest will continue to follow Edmondson as he gets closer to making his college choice known. Could he be joining his high school teammate Se'Von Pittman who has already given the Spartans his verbal pledge?
