Spartan Digest Take: Kyle Kerrick

Wide receiver Kyle Kerrick was the seventh verbal pledge to Mark Dantonio in the class of 2012. Here is our take on the talented Pennsylvania native.

With east coast schools lining up to get his signature on national signing day, Kyle Kerrick chose the Big Ten and Michigan State when it came time to announce his college decision. At 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, Kerrick has the tools the Spartans love to work with.

What To Like

Great physical size with strength after the catch makes Kerrick a receiver the Spartans will look to in the very near future. On film Kerrick is not afraid to take a hit and fight for yards after the catch. Another area Spartans fans will see out of Kerrick is his ability to go up and make the catch in the back of the endzone. This will serve him well at MSU.

What May Concern You

The biggest concern expressed by some is his top line speed. However, on film he shows the ability to separate from a defender and break free for long runs on several occasions.

Bottom Line

Kerrick's role in the Spartans offense is to be tough and go up and catch the football. While some may have liked to see a better forty time, Kerrick's game and role in the Spartans offense will be more important than a forty time. He must catch the ball in traffic and take the hits when they come.
