Spartan 66 2011 Ranking #32

The Michigan State Spartans won a share of the Big Ten title in 2010. Last year, SpartanDigest.com looked in-depth at sixty-six Spartans and their importance to the team's success. We look at 66 Spartans as 1966 was the last time MSU won a National Championship. It is now time to look at the #32 ranked Spartan in 2011.

Jairus Jones

SD 2011 Ranking : #32

Position: S

Experience : Redshirt Sophomore

Strengths : Quality player who saw time last season on special teams and as a backup at strong safety.

Weakness : Injury (torn Achilles) in the second-to-last spring practice and will miss the start of the season.

Overall : No one knows how much Jones will be able to give the Spartans this fall. He's got solid skills and if not injured would be fighting Isaiah Lewis for playing time at strong safety.

Why They Made The List : If healthy Jones gives the Spartans depth at strong safety. By all accounts Jones is ahead of schedule and doing straight line running at the present time. Jones has good physical size and gives depth to the Spartans. If he can get back by the start of Big Ten play he'll be a player who can help. If not, this might be a loss season for the Florida native.
