Where Do The Spartans Stand With Washington?

Adolphus Washington showed the country why he's one of the top prospects in Ohio and the Midwest. Where does Washington have Michigan State? We have the latest on Ohio's top prospect.

If there were still doubts about the talents of Adolphus Washington going into Sunday, I'm sure they've been answered following his performance against Friendship Collegiate Academy on national television.

How did Washington feel about his team performance?

"It was pretty good," said Washington. "Our focus was to come out here and play hard and I feel we did that today."

Despite the recruiting attention and many scholarship offers he's received the past several months, Washington knows there are still those who doubt his ability to be a big time college football player.

"It just came out and played hard," said Washington. "A lot of people have come out and said I'm overrated from around here so I had to come out and let them know who the best around here is."

While some reports had him giving Ohio State his pledge, Washington says it was just a misunderstanding.

"It was just a misunderstanding between me and my dad," said Washington. "I had told him I was leaning towards Ohio State and he thought I was committing."

While Michigan State has been a dark horse in Washington's recruitment, Spartan fans should be excited about the news he released on Sunday about his interest in Mark Dantonio's program.

"I'm real interested in Michigan State," said Washington. "Se'Von Pittman committed there a couple of months ago and we talk a lot. He said the two of us had a real good chance of going up there and playing as freshmen so I'm real high on Michigan State."

Does Washington have enough interest to make a visit to East Lansing?

"I've not been up to Michigan State yet," said Washington. "However, I'm planning on taking an official visit up there.

"I've not set any of my official visits as of yet, but Dwayne (Stanford) and I will be sitting down with coach (Mike) Martin in the next couple of days to schedule them and Michigan State will be getting one of them."

Despite the loss on Sunday, Washington still has high goals for his senior season.

"I hope we can finish 9-1," said Washington. "We need everybody to continue to play hard so we can make it to the playoffs and win a state championship."
