However, we're not talking about former Spartan great Greg Jones. No, were talking about junior linebacker Shane Jones who earned second team all-league defensive honors this past season as he helped Moeller win a Great Catholic League championship.
Saturday night, Jones and his Crusader teammates had the task of stopping one of Ohio's top offensive threats in Middletown (Ohio) quarterback Jalin Marshall.
How hard was the game?
"It was tough coming in," said Jones. "We only had a week to get ready for the option. We had to be ready for the option and make sure we kept our keys and that made the difference in the game."
How tough was it keeping Marshall in check?
"It was tough," said Jones. "Sometimes he would keep it and sometimes he'd pitch it. We just wanted to make sure we played hard."
Moeller started the season 7-0 before dropping their final three regular season games. How did the team handle the end of the season?
"We've faced adversity all year," said Jones. "We wanted to make sure we just stayed together as a team and keep doing the things we needed to do to be successful."
As for recruiting, Jones says things are just getting started.
"Right now I'm just getting letters," said Jones. "Nothing big or any offers right now."
One team Jones does hope to hear from is Michigan State.
"Yes, I have interest in Michigan State," said Jones. But I've not heard anything from them yet. I have interest in the Big Ten or Big East, something like that, no real preferences though."
