Daniel Adds Spartans to Growing List

Saturday saw early Scout.com four-star 2013 defensive end Elijah Daniel on the campus of Michigan State. SpartanDigest.com caught up with Daniel to learn more about his visit with the Spartans.

One of the top names in the Midwest for the class of 2013 is Avon (IN) defensive end Elijah Daniel.

Daniel, who already held eight offers prior to his Michigan State visit, got a one-on-one with Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio who gave the 6-foot-3, 230-pound super athlete some great news.

"Coach Dantonio spoke with me and offered me a scholarship," said Daniel. "I can say up there as compared to the other schools that have offered me, it's a really good program and I had a lot of fun up there."

One thing that has Daniel really excited about the Spartans is where they see him on the defensive side of the ball.

"They are recruiting me as a defensive end," said Daniel. "I'm very excited about that because they know what they are doing and they play my style of play, fast and aggressive."

What all did Daniel do while on his Junior Day visit?

"We watched a highlight video and practice," said Daniel. "We also toured the weight room, academic center, players lounge and locker room and it was a lot of fun."

During his visit Daniel also spoke with defensive line coach Ted Gill and Spartans defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi.

"You can see that coach Gill is a solid person and someone you can talk with," said Daniel. "Coach Narduzzi is a real fiery guy and is always really amped up."

Where does the Spartans offer stand with the others he's already received?

"Right now I have no top programs as I feel it's too early," said Daniel. "I'm a little bit surprised by all the early attention and I'm just trying to stay humble."
