Big Five Stories In 2011 #5

As 2011 comes to an end, we start to look back at the past year and the Big Five Stories in Michigan State athletics. We start with #5.

A change at the top of the Michigan State hockey program came in March when Tom Anastos was named head coach.

A Michigan State alumnus, Anastos has seen success in the sport as a player, coach, and administrator.

Honored as a "Distinguished Spartan" by the hockey program in 2004, Anastos played and coached at MSU before stepping into an administrative role. A four-year letterwinner (1981-85) under Ron Mason, Anastos will look to get the Spartans back to a National Championship.

With his appointment, Anastos becomes only the sixth Michigan State hockey coach in the programs history and the fourth in the modern era.
