Big Five Stories In 2011 #4

As 2011 comes to an end, we start to look back at the past year and the Big Five Stories in Michigan State athletics. We are now at #4.

After all the talk prior to the 2010-11 season about Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, things got back to normal as the Spartans looked to have another outstanding campaign. While the team struggled at times during the season, they still fought back and won two games including an upset of Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament before falling to Penn State in the semifinals.

The Spartans earned their 14-th straight NCAA Tournament appearance earning a No. 10 seed drawing seventh seeded UCLA in its opener.

Despite a late rally by the Spartans, the Bruins escaped with a 78-76 win ending the Spartans season.

Kalin Lucas earned second-team All-Big Ten recognition and Draymond Green earned third team honors.
