Big Five Stories In 2011 #1

As 2011 comes to an end, we start to look back at the past year and the Big Five Stories in Michigan State athletics. We finish with what we feel was the #1 story in Spartans athletics for 2011.

What more could Michigan State football fans ask for from the program Mark Dantonio is building in East Lansing?

Since taking over the Spartans in December of 2006, Dantonio has brought the Spartans to the top of the Big Ten conference with a Big Ten Championship in 2010 followed by an outright Legends Division Championship in 2011 and trip to the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game.

2011 also saw the Spartans become the first team in school history to win ten games in back-to-back seasons and only the fourth team in school history to pull off the feat.

Add in a fourth consecutive victory over Michigan and a senior class that leaves with many top marks in the record books and fans should expect even more great football as the program continues to reach new levels.

Spartan Digest will not be surprised if Spartans Football takes the top spot in 2012 when Dantonio will look to several untested players to take the place of the most winning senior class in program history.
