Howard Holds Interest In Spartans

Mark Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans may be looking back towards Dayton, Ohio for one of Ohio's top prospects in the class of 2013. Spartan Digest checks in with Darrien Howard for the latest.

After an impressive season this fall, Chaminade Julienne (Dayton, Ohio) linebacker Darrien Howard is sure to have college coaches recruiting him early for the class of 2013.

One program Howard has already visited is Michigan State. What does the 6-foot, 230-pound Howard think about the Spartans?

"I visited Michigan State for their game against FAU this season," said Howard. "The visit was good but I've not spoken with them lately. I can see myself playing in their defense."

To make sure he's ready for the spring and summer, Howard is staying active this winter.

"I'm playing basketball this year," said Howard. "I'm going to make sure I'm ready for camps and combine events this spring and summer."

With the Spartans having several current players with ties to the Dayton and Cincinnati area, is there any problems with the distance between home and East Lansing?

"It really doesn't matter to me," explained Howard. "Either way it would be good. I'm not trying to go too far, but I'm also not looking to be too close."
