Spartans Keys To Victory Georgia

What are the main keys to a Spartans victory over Georgia in the Outback Bowl? We take a look.

SpartanDigest.com has the final Keys to Victory as Michigan State prepares to finish the 2011 season playing Georgia in the 2012 Outback Bowl.

Stay Balanced On Offense

The Spartans must have both the running game and passing game working against Georgia to come away with a victory. Early success running the football is a must and do not be surprised if Edwin Baker comes alive when called upon.

Keep The Pressure Off Of Kirk Cousins

While Cousins will go down as one of the all-time greats quarterbacks in Spartans history. Fans know if he's given too much pressure there is a good chance he'll make an adjustment to his mechanics and make a critical mistake. The Spartans are not going to escape the game without some pressure being applied, however, the more time Cousins has to get into a rhythm the better the offense will perform.

Keep The Georgia Offense On The Run

With a veteran offensive line the Bulldogs will enter the game with enough experience to match-up with the Spartans along the line. However, with the right mix of blitzes and stunts the Spartans are athletic enough to cause Aaron Murray some problems.

Stay Injury Free On Both Sides Of The Ball

The Spartans already enter the game banged up at defensive tackle as Kevin Pickelman will be missed. However, the move of Micajah Reynolds back to the defensive side will help only if he's being used in support and not taking main snaps. The same could be said with the Spartans offensive line as quality depth is an issue.

Play Solid Special Teams

Georgia has given up two touchdowns on punt returns this season and two on kick returns. However, Brandon Boykin is fully capable of making big plays for the Bulldogs in both areas as he's the Bulldogs career kickoff return yardage leader. All areas of special teams must show up against UGA for the Spartans to have the success expected.
