MSU to commemorate "Magic"

Michigan State University announced on Wednesday that it will honor former Spartan and NBA great Earvin "Magic" Johnson with his very own statue outside the Breslin Center

MSU Trustee Joel Ferguson told The State News, MSU's student newspaper, that a full-sized statue was in the works. The university chose the Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany to create the sculpture. They are the same company that created the Michael Jordan statue outside the United Center. Johnson played for the Spartans during 1977-79 campaigns leading the Spartans to their first title in 1979. Johnon averaged 17.1 points per game and is in top ten in assists and scoring. As a 13-year pro for the Los Angeles Lakers, Johnson averaged 19.5 ppg and 11.2 assists per game.
