Those hopes became reality when Mark Dantonio gave him official word he could be a Spartan.
How long did Meyers wait to give his answer?
"You know, I always wanted to play for Michigan State," said Meyers. "I thought about it for five-minutes and then I told Coach Dantonio of my decision. I wanted to be a Spartan."
For Meyers there was still some unfinished visit with Toledo. How did he handle the process of informing the Rockets of his change in plans?
"It was pretty hard," explained Meyers. "Coach Campbell took it really well. He's a great guy, a great coach. He's treated me great but understands I have a great opportunity. He's a great coach."
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Meyers enjoyed a fun filled weekend with his parents at MSU.
"My parents went with me on my visit," said Meyers. "I had a great time hanging with my host Darien Harris and the other players. They are all great guys and Michigan State offers some great academic programs and can get you help when you need it.
"When we first got there we went out to eat and just hung out with the players. On Saturday, we went to the Purdue-Michigan State game and then toured the campus."
As for his parent's thoughts on Michigan State, Meyers knows he has their support.
"My parents love Michigan State," said an excited new Spartan.
