Make no mistake the desire, heart and work ethic of Greentown (IN) Eastern tight end Josiah Price. While others doubted Price would find BCS programs looking to offer, all he did was head out to camps and combines and earn everything he received.
In the end, his day at camp at Michigan State was enough to earn the Spartans a pledge at a very key position.
WHAT TO LIKE
Spartan Digest first saw Price at a combine last February in Indianapolis. At that time Price was still a player looking for offers and hoping he could open a few eyes. After watching Price run the hoop drill and some one-on-one drills we came away feeling he had a solid chance of not only earning an offer, but a BCS offer from the right program.
That program turned out to be Michigan State and Price fills a need the Spartans will have in 2012.
WHAT MAY CONCERN YOU
The thing most fans will quickly point out is the overall offer list full of Mid American Conference schools and a couple of Big Ten programs. One thing I learned several years ago was the ability of Mark Dantonio and his staff when it comes to evaluating talent. Price earned his offer in camp under the watchful eyes of the Spartans staff and is a hidden gem some will regret not going after in future years.
Price is a safe bet prospect as he could play on either side of the football and excel. Because of his athletic ability, Price can be moved around on offense as a tight end or even a fullback. This will serve him well as he's got the hands to catch a pass or two while also manning up and making a key block to open up a running lane or protect the quarterback.
Having seen Price prior to his MSU camp I was not surprised he earned a Spartans offer as he fits what Dantonio and his staff look for in a player on and off the field.
