SD Quick Take: Demetrious Cox

Mark Dantonio added another top prospect in the Class of 2012 when Demetrious Cox issued his pledge to the Spartans on Monday night. Here is a quick look at the newest Spartan. There is a lot to like when looking at Demetrious Cox as a football player. Here is our first quick look at the newest member of the Spartans 2012 recruiting class.

WHAT TO LIKE

Demetrious Cox was a highly sought after prospect holding major offers from rival Big Ten programs and Notre Dame to name a few. All-American who many considered a playmaker from the safety position with a chance to play early in his career. Great physical size at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds.

WHAT MAY CONCERN YOU

The biggest knock on Cox is his overall speed. However, on film he shows the ability to close quickly and seems to always be around the ball.

BOTTOM LINE

A Scout.com four-star safety (#8 safety in country) who Mark Dantonio beat Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State for. Should be able to come in early and compete while also giving the Spartans a solid special team's player early. Cox is a big addition to the Spartans class and shows Spartan fans Dantonio and his staff are fully capable of fighting for the top players in the country.
