Power forward displays interest in State

Shaun Pruitt is one of the bigger names in the Midwest in terms of power forwards. So far, he's fielding plenty of interest from schools but has yet to take an official visit. One school Pruitt does have in mind, however, is Michigan State. Basketball recruiting expert Dave Telep takes a look at Pruitt.

Shaun Pruitt is the biggest name prospect on the Illinois Wolves. The West Aurora senior-to-be is still waiting for his team's breakout spring/summer AAU effort.

"It's going alright. I'd like to be playing a little better and touching the ball a little more but it's going well. We're not quite in sync, we've got to trust each other better."

Meanwhile, Pruitt has been able to narrow his focus to five or six schools. Arizona, Marquette, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State and Wisconsin are in the hunt.

Pruitt prefers bigger schools and his list certainly reflects that preference.

"There's not a leader. I have to take some official visits."

Illinois, Marquette, Indiana and Wisconsin have had him on campus unofficially. I want to take an official visit to Arizona and Michigan State.

The key word with Pruitt is comfort. Where can he find it?

"[It'll be important] going onto campus and seeing I'll be comfortable. Every school is top of the line. I want to be comfortable at that school."

Two schools on his list underwent changes this year. First off, Marquette went to the Final Four. What kind of an impact did that have on him?

"That's always attractive but not really. I liked them before they went to the Final Four."

And, of course, Illinois had a head coaching change.

"I'm going up there this weekend. I'm pretty sure I'll get to play with some of their guys and I'll get to talk Bruce Weber."

Illinois has its individual camp this weekend.
