However, Dawson has showed us some moments of greatness. Dawson is an athletic wing with a Big Ten-body. He possesses a wide, strong frame that allows him to attack the paint and finish above the rim. He also has incredible rebounding instincts on the offensive and defensive end. Lastly his strength and length allow him to defend multiple positions very well.
Let's not forget Dawson was 2011 McDonald's All-American as he averaged 28.7 points, 18.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists his senior season A.T. Thomas at Lew Wallace High School (Gary, IN). Dawson held multiple offers from schools like Georgetown, Indiana, Marquette, Purdue, UCLA and more.
Dawson was ranked among the top 25 players in the nation by Scout.com (#13), Rivals.com (#20) and ESPNU Top 100 (#22). Rated the No. 4 small forward in the nation by Scout.com. No. 5 by ESPNU Top 100 and No. 7 by Rivals.com.
I anticipate with Green and Austin Thornton leaving, that Dawson will truly blossom more than he already has. Dawson can become that leader for the Spartans in every way if he chooses to take on that responsibility.
The main thing that Dawson must improve on when it comes to his game is his jump shot and his vision. If he adds the those two skills to his game, along with the role of the Spartan Leader he will truly be un-guardable in every way and can become one of the Spartan all-time greats like Green, Mateen Cleaves and Magic Johnson.
