After being so positive about the Spartans, Shelton wasted little time in pledging to Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio after his latest visit.
"Yes, I committed to Michigan State today," an excited Shelton told SpartanDigest.com.
"It's like I said before. The first time I went to Michigan State it felt like home. This was a good choice for me and my family. Overall, it's where I want to be for the football and to earn my degree."
Shelton spent some time with Dantonio on Sunday morning prior to giving his pledge.
"We sat down and spoke for about an hour," said Shelton. "It was a good conversation and he was excited and happy I was in the fold and would be playing football for them."
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete saw his recruitment take off after earning his Spartans offer with offers from Big Ten rivals Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. However, he knows being an early pledge takes some of the pressure off of the next several months.
"It's a relief," he said. "Michigan State is a fine school and a weight has been taken off my shoulders knowing where I'm going to play my college football."
What were the deciding factors in pledging to the Green & White?
"The coaches are great," said Shelton. "Overall the atmosphere of the campus and good vibes I've gotten made the difference."
Shelton's pledge gives the Spartans two new members to the class in the past twenty-four hours and the fourth pledge to the class overall.
