Gall Enjoyed Spartan JR Day caught up with offensive lineman Alex Gall about his Junior Day visit to Michigan State.

The ties between the Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller program high school program and Michigan State run deep.

Former Spartan great Greg Jones started the trend north to East Lansing with Marcus Rush and now Monty Madaris joining in.

Alex Gall hopes to have his chance to follow the same path and took the first steps by visiting the Spartans for their Junior Day on Saturday.

"My trip to Michigan State was good," said Gall. "I learned a lot about Michigan State and had a chance to meet the coaches learning a lot I didn't know. It was awesome up there."

Having watched the success of Jones and Rush in the Green & White, Gall hopes to get his chance.

"It's been great watching guys go up there," Gall explained. "I would love to be part of the tradition of us sending people up there and being part of all of that."

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive lineman has already posted five verbal offers.

"I've got five offers," said Gall. "Kentucky, Ohio, Akron, Toledo and Bowling Green have offered."

Gall has heard nothing but great things about the Spartans coaching staff from one of his high school coaches. Doug Rosfeld is Gall's position coach at Moeller and has ties to Mark Dantonio and several of the Spartan coaches including offensive line coach Mark Staten. Gall got a chance to spend time with Staten on Saturday and came away impressed.

"I got to talk with Coach Staten a lot," said Gall. "He's a great guy and reminds me of my position coach. They have a similar way they teach and similar personalities."

Gall knows he might be caught up in a numbers crunch at MSU.

"They have looked at a couple of inside guys," Gall said. "Right now they are looking at outside guys first and then looking at the guards. They see me as a guard and I might need to go there for camp this summer. I'm not sure yet."

If asked to camp would Gall attend?

"If they want me to go to camp there I would go," he said. "If not then I don't think I'll need to go."

Gall has no commitments to other sports during the spring and will look to take advantage of the time making several visits.

"I don't have any big plans right now," said Gall. "I'll head out to some spring practices and spring games while I continue working out with my team."

The weekend was a busy one for Gall as he visited not only the Spartans, but also Big Ten foe Illinois for a Junior Day.

How did the Spartans stack up to the other programs he's visited?

"I've visited five schools so far," said Gall. "I've visited Ohio State, Cincinnati, Michigan State yesterday, Illinois today, and Kentucky last weekend. Michigan State was awesome and probably one of my favorites."
