Spartan Women Also Dancing

Loss in all the talk of the success of Tom Izzo's team this past weekend is the success of the Michigan State women's basketball team who will also be dancing.

Suzy Merchant's team received a No. 10 seed in the Raleigh Region of the NCAA Tournament marking the 12-th time in program history earning a dance card following a 20-11 season and tie for second in the Big Ten at 11-5.

The Spartans have compiled a record of 15-11 in previous tournament appearances, including a 9-1 mark in the first round.

However, this will not be an easy trip for Merchant's squad as they'll face No. 7 seed Louisville (22-9) on Saturday, March 17 in College Park, Maryland and also have the No. 2 seed Maryland waiting in the wings.

This is Merchant's fourth NCAA Tournament selection since taking over the Spartans program having advanced to second round play each of the last two seasons and the Sweet 16 in 2009.
