Texas Receiver Has High Interest In MSU

With the recent commitment of one Texas prospect Michigan State hit the Lone Star state again with an offer to wide receiver Quan Jones. SpartanDigest.com spoke with Jones about his interest in the Spartans.

At 6-foot-4, 195-pounds and a reported forty time of 4.5, Quan Jones of Wylie (TX) East High School is the latest prospect to pull down an offer from Mark Dantonio.

How much interest does the Texas native have in the Spartans?

"I have a lot of interest in Michigan State," said Jones. "I have family in Michigan and have been talking with Coach (Terrence) Samuel's a lot. But they finally offered me because the head coach watched film on me. So I have a lot of interest in them."

Prior to getting his offer, how much did Jones know about the Spartans?

"I didn't know a lot about them," said Jones. "However, I'm going to learn a lot about them now since they've offered me."

While the Spartans have already pulled a commitment out of Texas, what are the chances of them getting Jones to leave his home state?

"It's a possibility I could leave Texas," he said. "Michigan State is a good team, so I can see them pulling big time recruits out of Texas. I won't be surprised."

With thirteen offers already on the table do any programs stick out?

"It's too early in the process to have any favorites right now," explained Jones. "I will look to make my decision during or after my season. I hope to visit Michigan State sometime in the fall as I'll look to take an official visit with them."

When asked to talk about his play on the field, Jones was quick to point out the things he feels make him a special player.

"I can see myself as a speed and deep threat as I like deep balls a lot," he said. "I can also go across the middle. I'm also a quick speed guy and feel I bring a lot to the table."

SpartanDigest.com will continue to follow the progress the Spartans have with the talented receiver in the coming months.
