Quick Look: Eastern Michigan

Michigan State will host Eastern Michigan in week four of the season as the Eagles will be looking to notch a signature win for head coach Ron English.

Game No. 4 – Eastern Michigan
Date: 9/22/2012 – East Lansing (MI) – Spartan Stadium
Conference: Mid-American
2011 Record: 6-6
Last Bowl Game: 1987 California Bowl – 30-27 win over San Jose State

Head Coach: Ron English

8-28 (3 seasons)

This year's game marks the first time since 2007 that Eastern Michigan has played in East Lansing. The Eagles return nine starters on offense including senior quarterback Alex Gillett who rushed for 736 yards and three touchdowns while passing for 1,504 yards and 14 touchdowns a season ago.

On defense English finds five returning starters including team leading tackler Justin Cudworth who earned Third-team All-MAC honors with 83 tackles last season.

Biggest Question for 2012: Can Ron English continue the Eagles turnaround?

Following the programs best season in 16 years will be a major task for English and his staff. The Eagles should be strong on offense but could struggle on the defensive side of the ball after being one of the top defensive units in the country a season ago.

Last year's team was young overall and that should help them when they reach conference play and put them in position to again battle for the Michigan Mid-American Conference trophy.

Early Prediction: Fans know this game is a financial boost for the Eastern Michigan program as they look to continue building upon the programs long history. Last season the Eagles played Michigan and Penn State losing both games by a combined score of 9-65. Should anything less be expected from their trip to Spartan Stadium?
