Trubisky Excited By Spartans Offer

Ohio quarterback Mitch Trubisky now holds six scholarship offers including one from Michigan State. spoke with Trubisky to learn more about his interest in the Green and White.

With the on field success Michigan State has enjoyed as a program and of former quarterback Kirk Cousins the past few years it is no surprise quarterbacks take a hard look at what the Spartans have to offer.

One of the newest offers handed out by head coach Mark Dantonio went to Mentor (OH) High School signal caller Mitch Trubisky.

Trubisky sounds like a player with high interest in the Spartans.

"I'm pretty interested in Michigan State," Trubisky told "I visited there for the Wisconsin game and that was a blast. I also love the facilities."

While the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Trubisky was excited from his visit in the fall, he got even more excited about speaking with Dantonio.

"I was real excited to speak with some of the coaches," said Trubisky. "Then Coach D offered me and it was a real exciting process talking with him."

One thing that stood out to Trubisky was the way the Spartans go about their business.

"I was talking with Coach D and the thing that stuck out at me was the way he came right out and said at Michigan State they were going to be completely honest with you," explained Trubisky. "He also talked about how they are not going to go around breaking any rules or try to influence you in any way as they know it is your decision.

"They just want to come out and be honest with you and say what they feel and help you go through the process and hope you choose them. It sounded really good to me about how they go about things at Michigan State."

What is Trubisky looking for in a program as he continues the recruiting process?

"I think it's going to be about getting along with the coaches real well," said Trubisky. "If you have a great relationship with the coaches I feel things will fall into place.

"All the programs these days have great facilities and great academics, but it's about the people you know and all the connections are really important. Right now I'm just looking at the schools to see what sticks out to me. I'm going to keep looking at colleges and when a place feels like home that is when I'm going to decide."

As for a timeline in making his decision, Trubisky hopes to make his decision sooner than later.

"Right now I'm thinking sometime in the summer probably before my senior season begins," he said.

When asked to describe his on field abilities Trubisky feels he's got the tools that have helped quarterbacks have success in the Spartans offense scheme.

"I think I'm a pretty smart quarterback and have all the intangibles," Trubisky said. "I'm very competitive and hate to lose. I've got a strong accurate arm as almost all quarterbacks have now days and can also use my feet. But you've got to have the intangibles to get your team in the right play.

"I feel Michigan State has a real methodical system and that they do everything the right way. They have a system of scoring and it works well for them."

As for making a return trip to campus Trubisky is hopeful one can happen soon.

"I do want to take a visit up there for spring practice," said Trubisky. "If I'm not able to get up there this spring for a practice I do want to get up there to tour the facilities."
