Honorary Coach for the Green squad will be former Spartan great Greg Jones.
Seniors Jeff Bobek, Dan Conroy, Doug Curtis, John Deyo, Chris McDonald, Ethan Ruhland, Anthony Rashad White and Mitchell White wasted little time in making junior defensive end William Gholston their first pick of the draft setting the tone for what looks like a strong Green squad.
Green / White Rosters:
Here is a look at the other members of Team Green.
Quarterbacks: If healthy Andrew Maxwell would have been guiding the Green team on Saturday. As announced Connor Cook will take snaps for both teams and insured of being on the winning side. Cook might really like his Green teammates when you look at the protection he should receive from his offensive line. He'll also be joined by Tommy Vento taking snaps during the day.
Running Backs: Is Le'Veon Bell ready to be talked about with the best backs in the country? That will be a question more for the fall but this spring will give the Ohio native a chance to really showcase his talents running and catching the ball. He'll be joined by Jeremy Langford and Tony Fant with Trevon Pendleton and Jeff Bobek at fullback.
Tight End: Despite getting Dion Sims the Green knows it will be his blocking they'll look to use as Sims is still nursing an injury that could slow his pass catching abilities. However, look for Denzel Drone to be thrown to during the day.
Wide Receiver: Spartan fans will get a chance to check out Florida native Juwan Caesar for the first time since his arrival to campus. He'll be joined by Keith Mumphery, Jordan Benton and John Jakubik. This looks to be a weakness for the Green squad on paper.
Offensive Line: Is this the strength of the Green squad? Skyler Burkland is back from his season ending injury during last season's Notre Dame game. He'll be joined by Travis Jackson, Chris McDonald, Ethan Ruhland, Blake Treadwell, Kyle Lints and Michael Dennis. However, the player Spartan fans may want to keep an eye on is Donavon Clark who will get his first chance to show what he's got.
Thoughts On Green Offense: You have to really like the offensive line put together as well as having Bell as your main running back. There are questions at wide receiver and tight end so look for the offense to try and pound the ball early.
Mike Tressel and Ted Gill will have their work cut out for them on Saturday as they put together the pieces to help William Gholston use his skills and attack the White offense. The strength is up front and Spartan fans will get a chance to see some of the young Spartans they've yet to really see.
Defensive Line: There was a reason Gholston was taken with the first overall pick as many expect the junior to be a disruptive force on Saturday. He'll be joined by Shilique Calhoun who Spartan fans will be excited to see in action and Jeremy Gainer coming off the edge.
The loss of Jerel Worthy has some Spartan fans worried but team Green will have bowl game hero Rashad White, newcomer James Kitredge who transferred in from Vanderbilt as well as Doug Curtis and Mark Scarpinato to fill the gap.
Defensive Backs: While team Green may have strength up front the secondary will be led by Kurtis Drummond who Mark Dantonio says is having a great spring. He'll be joined by Trae Waynes, Jairus Jones, Mitchell White and Arjen Colquhoun.
Thoughts On Green Defense: One thing you can be sure of a Dantonio spring game is the sides will be even. While the Green squad may have been able to pick the top Spartan it does not mean they have the overall better defense. However, this group does look strong and will have a chance to flex their muscle against the White offense.
