Horton's Interest In Spartans High

Having watched what Michigan State has done with LeVeon Bell has piqued the early interest of 2014 running back Mikel Horton. What does Horton say about the Spartans?

One thing Mark Dantonio has prided himself with over the years is having quality big running backs to use in his offensive attacks.

Mikel Horton of Middletown (OH) Lakota East High School has taken notice of the way the Spartans use their backs and has early interest.

"The way Michigan State runs their offense with big backs is impressive," said Horton. "They have LeVeon Bell so they like big backs. So the way I look at it, that style of offense might be right for me."

Early on the Spartans are showing some early interest in the 6-foot-1, 225-pound Horton.

"Coach (Harlon) Barnett has visited my schools twice," said Horton. "So I feel that shows they have some serious interest."

Beside the Spartans, Horton is hearing from several programs.

"I'm hearing from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Alabama, LSU and Cincinnati," said Horton. "Right now the plan is to attend camps with each school as well as Michigan State this summer."
