There is a very good reason new Michigan State starting quarterback Andrew Maxwell earned our No. 1 spot. If the Spartans lose the Midland, Michigan native during the season, Mark Dantonio will be forced to play an unproven player.
Spartan fans got an early look at a Maxwell less MSU squad during the spring game and while this is no knock on Connor Cook, Maxwell, while also inexperienced is ready for the rigors of the day-to-day demands of being the starting quarterback for a team with championship hopes.
If the Spartans are without Maxwell during the 2012 season it is our belief the offense would lose a great deal out of the play book and become more of a full running attack with limited passing. While having a running back like Le'Veon Bell would ease some of the pain, it will not be an offense the Spartans will be able to win a Big Ten title with.
