Shelton Enjoyed Camp Time

While many high school student athletes visited Michigan State during the recent camp season, R.J. Shelton went as a future Spartans having issued his pledge a few months ago. How was his return to campus? We check in with Shelton for a quick update.

Beaver Dam (WI) running back R.J. Shelton returned to his future home this past weekend as a camper. How was the trip back to Michigan State as a pledge and not one of the many high school players looking to earn a scholarship?

"It was fun going up there and competing a little bit with all the guys there," said Shelton. "I was just trying to put up some good times and show what I can do."

One thing Shelton made sure to do during his visit was connect more with his future coaches.

"It was great bonding with the coaches," said Shelton. "It's just fantastic how it feels like a family there as they always check on how you're doing. They also always put you in a good situation every time you're there."

As for connecting with one of his future teammates, Shelton looks to have connected with one already.

"I talked with Jalyn (Powell) while there," said Shelton. "We've talked before and we talked with some of the guys in the 2014 class who are looking at MSU."
