Last Look Back Defense: Central Michigan

We take one last look at Saturday's win over Central Michigan looking at each position on the defensive side of the ball.

Each week we'll take a look back at each side of the football from the previous game before moving on to the next one. The Spartans defense played a major role in the team's victory over Central Michigan and has yet to yield a touchdown this season. We're sure you'll find our grade card reflecting that success.

DEFENSIVE LINE

William Gholston made his way into the stat chart leading the Spartans with seven overall tackles including a sack and two quarterback hurries. Overall, the d-line posted five QB hurries on the day as Shilique Calhoun and Marcus Rush joined the parade. The biggest question going forward is the pressure coming from the middle of the line as Damon Knox and Anthony Rashad White each posted two tackles. How much does MSU miss Jerel Worthy? Right now it looks like a lot. Spartan Digest Grade A-

LINEBACKERS

The linebackers continue to be consistent as Chris Norman, Denicos Allen and Max Bullough combined for 12 tackles (only one for loss) on the day. After two impressive performances this group of Spartans will be tested next Saturday against Notre Dame. Spartan Digest Grade A

SECONDARY

Central Michigan looked to air it out and the Spartans secondary was ready as R.J. Williamson, Darqueze Dennard, Isaiah Lewis, Johnny Adams and company led the Spartans defensive attack. Lewis and Adams each posted an interception while Adams also recorded two pass breakups on the day. Lots of players got reps and that will only help going forward. Spartan Digest Grade A+
