Hill gears for Pan-Am games tryout

MSU junior guard Chris Hill is one of 17 finalists battling for a spot on the U.S. Pan Am games that will take place in two weeks. Hill will be watched and evaluated by MSU head coach and Pan Am coach Tom Izzo, who will make the decision on who makes the squad.

Hill and the others will travel to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the workouts. Izzo and his coaching staff will whittle the roster to 12 by next Wednesday.

Hill will be going up against Seton Hall's Andre Barrett, Kentucky's Gerald Fitch, Gonzaga's Blake Stepp and Connecticut's Ben Gordon for the shooting guard spots.

The U.S. Pan Am team will get into action on Aug. 2-6 in the Pan American Gamers in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
