Top Spartans: Ohio State

Spartan Digest names our Top Spartans from Saturday's 17-16 loss to Ohio State.

Spartan Digest takes this time to recognize a couple of members of the Michigan State football program by handing out our Top Spartan honors for those Spartans we feel played a huge role in the Spartans success on the field.

Each week during the season we'll give out Top Spartans honors to the following.

Top Spartan: The one player who played the biggest role in the success of the team in that week's game.

Top Spartan Offense: Player other than the Top Spartan who helped the offense to have success on the field.

Top Spartan Defense: Player other than the Top Spartan who helped the defense to have success on the field.

Top Spartan

Chris Norman - Linebacker

Norman was third on the team by posting nine total tackles on the day with one sack, two tackles for loss, one pass break-up and a fumble recovery. In his final season the Detroit, Michigan native is off to a solid start.

Keith Mumphery – Wide Reciver

If there was one play Michigan State fans came away feeling good about on Saturday it was Mumphery's battle to reach the end zone carrying several Buckeyes with him in the process. On the day the Vienna, Georgia native posted five catches for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Top Spartan Defense

Max Bullough – Linebacker

The junior continues to be the man in the middle that gets things done. Against Ohio State the Mike linebacker posted 12 total tackles with one quarterback hurry and a forced fumble.
