Top Spartans: Iowa

Spartan Digest takes this time to recognize a couple of members of the Michigan State football program by handing out our Top Spartan honors for those Spartans we feel played a huge role in the Spartans success on the field.

Each week during the season we'll give out Top Spartans honors to the following.

Top Spartan: The one player who played the biggest role in the success of the team in that week's game.

Top Spartan Offense: Player other than the Top Spartan who helped the offense to have success on the field.

Top Spartan Defense: Player other than the Top Spartan who helped the defense to have success on the field.

Top Spartan

Denicos Allen – Linebacker

Allen played his best game of the season with 13 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a quarterback hurry and a interception. While teams have made adjustments to keep Allen from posting the sack totals of last season, he remains one of the top Spartans on defense.

Top Spartan Offense

Le'Veon Bell – Running Back

Bell posted another big day rushing for 140 yards on 29 carries and one touchdown. For the season the Ohio native has carried the ball 200 times for 916 yards and eight touchdowns.

Top Spartan Defense

Taiwan Jones – Linebacker

Jones continued showing why Spartan coaches made the move of placing him in front of Chris Norman as he posted 10 total tackles (1 for loss), a pass break-up and quarterback hurry.
