Having visited Michigan State early in the season gave Shelby Spence a positive impression of the Spartans. checks in with the 2014 quarterback about his visit and the contact he's had with the Spartans.

Shelby Spence got an early chance to visit Michigan State for a game this fall and came away impressed with what he saw.

"I visited Michigan State when they played Notre Dame," said Spence. "That was my first time ever being at Michigan State and I really enjoyed the campus and also the atmosphere around the team as you can tell it's a family atmosphere and everyone cares about one another and pushes each other to be the best."

While impressed with the program overall, Spence also came away impressed with other things he witnessed.

"The atmosphere at the stadium was pretty crazy as well," said Spence. "The campus and football facilities were also very impressive as I liked the weight room and their meeting rooms."

Spence has been in contact with Spartans offensive coordinator Dan Roushar and hopes to learn more from the Spartans assistant coach going forward.

"Right now I'm exchanging my mid-season film with coach Roushar to get some feedback," said Spence. "I mainly want to get his feedback as I feel I'm doing 100% better than last year as my release is a lot better and I'm making better decisions as the game is definitely slowing down for me. So we'll see what happen and then go from there." will continue to follow the recruiting process as it involves the Spartans and the Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle quarterback.
