Last Look Back Offense: Minnesota

The heartbreak of the 2012 season stopped Saturday afternoon in Minnesota as Michigan State powered to a sixth win on the season making them eligible for a bowl berth. We take one last look at the performances of the offensive unit.


This was not Andrew Maxwell's best performance and some are questioning if the first year starter has taken a few steps back after a promising start. With the Spartans getting extra practice time prior to leaving for their bowl game look for Maxwell to be pushed and both Connor Cook and Tyler O'Connor to be give a lot of reps.

Where would this team be without Le'Veon Bell? With his 266 yard performance Bell carried the team to the win on offense. It was good to see Larry Caper get a few productive carries but Spartan fans have to be wondering what will happen if Bell declares for the NFL Draft.

Another performance that have Spartan fans asking about the future of the program as the Spartans saw Bennie Fowler pull down seven balls for 101 yards and one touchdown. But when Dion Sims, Tony Lippett and Keith Mumphery only add another five catches, production was poor on the day.

Spartan Digest Grade C


Have to give this group some credit as someone had to help open holes for Bell to have such a productive day. The line gave up two sacks but kept Minnesota from registering any quarterback hurries on the day.
