Powell Ready To Go

With his senior season behind him Michigan State pledge Jalyn Powell is ready to get started.

Jalyn Powell was a big reason Warren (Ohio) Harding High School went from 2-8 in 2011 to 9-1 and earning a playoff spot this fall. After helping Harding get back to the playoffs they drew one of the hottest teams in Ohio for the first round and loss 45-35 to Mentor.

How did Powell feel about his senior year?

"We had a great season," said Powell. "We worked hard during the off season and all that work paid off. "On the field I feel I became a lot better in coverage."

How has life been for the future Spartan?

"It's been good," said Powell. "I know high school will soon be over and I'm working hard and will be ready to go. I'll report to Michigan State this summer."

While Powell only visited for one game this season he's looking forward to taking his official visit.

"I went to the Ohio State game," said Powell. "I liked it a lot and can't wait as I'm looking forward to getting out there on the field. Right now the plan is for me to take my official visit in December."

As for his relationship with members of the Spartans coaching staff things look strong.

"I've got a good relationship with Coach (Pat) Narduzzi," said Powell. "I talk with him about once a week."
