Salmon Ready For Visits

Michigan State pledge Devyn Salmon updates about his upcoming visit to campus and the Spartan coaches who have or will be visiting him.

When Plant City, Florida native Devyn Salmon made his commitment to Michigan State he quickly learned what the Spartans coaching staff was all about. Last week Salmon had a solid sit down visit with a couple of MSU coaches.

"Last Thursday (defensive coordinator) Coach (Pat) Narduzzi and (assistant) Coach (Harlon) Barnett stopped in to see me," said Salmon. "Coach (Mark) Dantonio is to visit me tomorrow for a visit and I talk with Coach Barnett almost every week.

"My visit with Coach Narduzzi was real exciting as I got a chance to see the new facilities and campus on his IPad and it was great just being in the same room with him. He showed me a lot and he asked me about my parents and everything like that. I feel that we really bonded in that short period of time and can't wait to play for him."

It's not just Salmon who is excited about the Spartans head coach visit on Tuesday.

"We're all really excited right now about Coach Dantonio's visit," said Salmon. "My mom is especially excited as she wants to meet him and see what type of person he really is. So I'm getting excited just talking about it now and can't wait until tomorrow."

Following the holidays Salmon will get ready for his official visit to Michigan State.

"I'm going up for my official visit on January 18th," said Salmon. "Michigan State plays Ohio State in basketball that weekend and I just can't wait to get up to East Lansing.

With his senior football season behind him, Salmon knows he'll always have a story to tell about his final year at Plant City High School.

"My senior season was better than my junior year," explained Salmon. "In fact I had a 99-yard touchdown this season. We were on the one yard line and stopped them so I was able to strip the ball and ran all the way. I think I'm the only defensive lineman in Florida to do that. Thank god I had another blocker because I think I would have been done at the 20 or 30 yard line if I didn't."
