Jones Ready For Next Challenge

With the success former players from Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller High School have enjoyed at Michigan State. Spartan football fans are excited about seeing Shane Jones wearing the Green & White. Jones talked about his official visit this past weekend and how he's ready to get started.

For four-star linebacker and Michigan State pledge Shane Jones much will be expected when he arrives on campus this summer.

A product of Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller High School, Jones follows a handful of Crusaders who've made their way to East Lansing. The past weekend, Jones spent his first extended time on campus and came away ready for his next challenge.

"My weekend was good," said Jones. "We went out to eat on Friday and then to the basketball game on Saturday. My host was Taiwan Jones and the game was a lot of fun as the place was crazy."

Something new the Spartans coaching staff tried with the past weekend was getting as many of their planned signees on campus at the same time. The plan seemed to be a great success as Jones praised getting the chance to meet his future teammates.

"I bonded with everybody as our class is really pretty close," said Jones. "It's weird because we really didn't know each other before we committed to Michigan State. However, now we're all pretty close. It was also good being able to be around the players outside of football and talk about their regular day at school. That was one of the things I wanted to do when I was up there."

Jones also had a chance to catch up with a familiar face while on his visit.

"I got a chance to talk with Monty (Madaris) and he loves it up there," said Jones about his former high school teammate. "He told me to be ready when I get up there."

Another positive for Jones was his meetings with members of the Spartans coaching staff including head coach Mark Dantonio.

"I met with all the defensive coaches and Coach D before I left," said Jones. "We talked about next year and our plans and everything like that. I'm all set and very excited about signing day and getting up to Michigan State."
