Geiger Sets Bar High Following Visit

Like many of the Michigan State pledges who visited campus for their official visits this past weekend, Michael Geiger came away impressed and will cherish the memories in the years to come. Geiger talked with SpartanDigest.com about his official visit and why he'll hold the Spartans student section to high standards.

The whirlwind recruiting journey of Toledo (Ohio) Ottawa Hills kicker Michael Geiger continued this past weekend with his official visit to Michigan State. How did the visit go?

"I had a great time," said Geiger. "It was really special to have almost our entire commitment class there and a couple of guys we are working on.

"The visit definitely helped as I've been through a whirlwind recruiting process, but it made me feel like Michigan State is going to be my home and I wish I could start tomorrow as it was a great experience and I was really pleased with the entire visit."

Like his fellow commits, Geiger also enjoyed the time getting to know the Spartans coaching staff.

"I got a chance to bond with a lot of the coaches and sit down with Coach (Mark) Dantonio a couple of times," said Geiger. "I also spent time with Coach (Mike) Tressel who recruits my area and I really like Coach (Brad) Salem and Coach (Pat) Narduzzi. I learned it's a great staff as I really got close to a lot of the coaches."

Not only did Geiger get time with the Spartans staff, his host made sure he got around his future teammates during the weekend.

"My host for the weekend was Mike Sadler," Geiger said. "He was great getting me out with the guys and being on campus and I learned it is where I want to be."

Like others Geiger was still feeling the effects from his visit and thinking about the Spartans big basketball win over Ohio State.

"Honestly I hate Ohio State," said Geiger. "So that was definitely pleasing to me and it was incredible as I think for a lot of us that was the first time we've seen a crowd that electrifying. So we'll see if they (student section) live up to their expectations as I've set them high after this weekend.

"The food was great as each event was catered and I came home a little stuffed as my eyes were bigger than my stomach. But it was great and I can't complain about the food."

While Geiger is sure he'll remember the atmosphere of the basketball game, it will be something else he'll remember following his football career.

"The basketball game was a great game," said Geiger. "But memories of meeting the guys and getting to know them are what I'll remember most. Right now I'm just looking forward to the future."

Before arriving on campus Geiger has one more prep game to compete in.

"I played in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and that was exciting," said Geiger. "I'm also planning on playing in the Ohio North-South Game so I'm excited about that too as it sound like fun."
