Barker Intrigued By Spartans

This past week 2014 quarterback Drew Barker received a surprise visit at his school from Michigan State. How does the Hebron (KY) Conner product feel about the Spartans? spoke with Barker about his interest.

One of the early quarterbacks making noise in the 2014 recruiting class is early four-star signal caller Drew Barker.

Barker, who stands 6-foot-4, 205-pounds has seen several colleges show early interest but was surprised when Michigan State made contact this week.

"Michigan State showed up out of nowhere," said Barker. "I was surprised as they hadn't contacted me or my coach, so it was kind of cool they stopped in unexpected.

"Next week they are looking to bring in Coach (Mark) Dantonio and possibly quarterback coach Dave Warner so they can watch me throw.

"They definitely seem to be very interested and I like what I heard, especially that they are looking to bring the head man down."

With early offers from Kentucky, Indiana, Louisville, Tennessee, Purdue and North Carolina to name a few, Barker has visited several programs. However, he's never visited East Lansing.

"I was never able to get up to Michigan State," explained Barker. "We'll see what happens next week as I'm looking to visit schools this spring that have offered me or that are about to offer me. They said they are not going to offer until they see me throw in person, so we'll see what happens."
