Padla Impresses at SMSB

One of the top performers at Friday's, Sound Mind Sound Body camp was offensive lineman Nick Padla. Spartan Digest caught up with Padla about what he's hearing from the Spartans.

Under the watchful eyes of Michigan State offensive line coach Mark Staten, Nick Padla looked to improve his chances of earning a scholarship offer from the Spartans.

Why did Padla attend one of the top showcase camps in the country?

"I'm from a really small school from the middle of nowhere," said Padla. "I have to get my name out there and have to travel long distances from the coaches to find me. So at camps, I need them to go wow...this kid can play.

At 6-foot-6, 270-pounds, Padla is hopeful his performance on Friday can help him land an offer on Sunday when he attends Spartans camp.

Michigan State is my dream school," said Padla. "They are the school I've been watching since I was a little kid. So an offer from them would be nice. I'm going there Sunday for their camp and we'll see what happens.

What would Padla do if he earned an offer is not set in stone.

"I would probably sit back on it for awhile," said Padla. "There are other schools out there out of Michigan that I'm looking at. But I would sit down with the family and look at it.

While some may feel being at a small school could slow ones development. Padla feels just the opposite.

"I like being at a small school," said Padla. "I find it really helpful as the coaches there have more attention for me instead of having 60 or 70 kids to look after.
