Spartan Digest is back with our annual look at the most important Spartans for the upcoming season. Each year we come up with a different theme and this year we'll look at the 30 most indispensable Spartans in 2013. Who is No. 29 for 2013?

Michigan State saw George Perles take the field as head coach 30-years ago. Spartan Digest recognizes Perles with this seasons 30 Most Indispensable Spartans with a look at those members of the football team we feel will have major roles if the Spartans are to have success on the field.

Kevin Muma

Hometown: Troy, Mich.

High School: Troy High School

HT: 6-0 WT: 199

Position: Kicker

Experience: 3 time letter winner

2012 Season: Averaged 63.2 yards on kickoffs, which ranked 17-th in the FBS. Had 29 of his 60 kicks recorded as touchbacks (48-percent).

Strengths: Has strong leg who will be in a battle for the Spartans place kicking duties early in camp.

Weaknesses: Has not been tested as a place kicker and could find a freshman pushing him early in camp.

Overall: Attempted only one field goal during the Spartans annual Green-White game and was good from 30-yards while averaging 59-yards on five kickoffs with one kick out of bounds. Muma should be safe as the Spartans kickoff specialist but could find incoming freshman Michael Geiger pushing him for the top spot.
