Spartan Digest is back with our annual look at the most important Spartans for the upcoming season. Each year we come up with a different theme and this year we'll look at the 30 most indispensable Spartans in 2013. Who is at No. 26?

Michigan State saw George Perles take the field as head coach 30-years ago. Spartan Digest recognizes Perles with this seasons 30 Most Indispensable Spartans with a look at those members of the football team we feel will have major roles if the Spartans are to have success on the field.

Demetrious Cox

Hometown: Jeannette (Pa.)

High School: Jeannette High School

HT: 6-1 WT: 199

Position: Safety

Experience: Redshirted in 2012

2012 Season: Practice with the team but did not see any action as the Spartans coaching staff was able to save his redshirt.

Strengths: Great natural athletic ability gives Cox the ability to make big plays for the Spartans defense.

Weaknesses: Lacks game day experience at the college level.

Overall: Fans heard a lot about Cox during preseason camp in 2012 and some expected the safety to find time on special teams and mop-up duties at safety to help him be ready for the 2013 season. The Spartans coaching staff was able to preserve Cox's redshirt and that should pay off in the long run for the Spartans defense.
