Spartan Digest is back with our annual look at the most important Spartans for the upcoming season. Each year we come up with a different theme and this year we'll look at the 30 most indispensable Spartans in 2013. Who is at No. 25?

Michigan State saw George Perles take the field as head coach 30-years ago. Spartan Digest recognizes Perles with this seasons 30 Most Indispensable Spartans with a look at those members of the football team we feel will have major roles if the Spartans are to have success on the field.

Kurtis Drummond

Hometown: Masury (Ohio)

High School: Hubbard High School

HT: 6-1 WT: 196

Position: Safety

Experience: Two-time winner

2012 Season: Played in all 13 games with seven starts. Finished fifth on the team with 53 total tackles (4.5 for loss) and earned the teams Tommy Love Award as the most improved player-defense.

Strengths: Has put in his time and fully understands the defensive scheme and should be ready to have the biggest season of his career.

Weaknesses: Must show the ability to play at a high level from week one until the end of the season without missing time with injuries.

Overall: Fans have seen a glimpse of Drummond's talent and are ready to see the Ohio native take the next steps and become one of the top players in the Big Ten. Has shown the ability to make big plays but must be more consistent on every down to become the player the Spartans coaching staff feels he can become.
