Indispensable Spartan #15

Spartan Digest is back with our annual look at the most important Spartans for the upcoming season. Each year we come up with a different theme and this year we'll look at the 30 most indispensable Spartans in 2013.

Michigan State saw George Perles take the field as head coach 30-years ago. Spartan Digest recognizes Perles with this seasons 30 Most Indispensable Spartans with a look at those members of the football team we feel will have major roles if the Spartans are to have success on the field.

Here is #15

Tony Lippett

HT: 6-3 WT: 191

Position: X Wide Receiver

Experience: Two-time letter winner

2012 Season: Lippett finished tied for third on the team in receptions (36) and fourth in receiving yards (392).

Strengths: Has great physical size with above average athletic ability.

Weaknesses: Still a raw receiver despite having played the position for parts of the past two seasons.

Overall: The time is now for Lippett to put everything together and produce at a higher level. Everyone expected greatness out of the Detroit (Mich.) native and there is still time for him to reach achieve it. With a recent depth chart release, some will have to worry if Lippett could be passes up at the X-receiver spot as the Spartans move Bennie Fowler from the Z-receiver spot as they open up camp in front of Lippett.
