Indispensable Spartan #13

Spartan Digest is back with our annual look at the most important Spartans for the upcoming season. Each year we come up with a different theme and this year we'll look at the 30 most indispensable Spartans in 2013.

Michigan State saw George Perles take the field as head coach 30-years ago. Spartan Digest recognizes Perles with this seasons 30 Most Indispensable Spartans with a look at those members of the football team we feel will have major roles if the Spartans are to have success on the field.

Here is #13

Spartans Defensive Front (Inside)

Micajah Reynolds

HT: 6-5 WT: 307

Position: Nose Tackle

Experience: Three-time letter winner

James Kittredge

HT: 6-4 WT: 252

Position: Nose Tackle

Experience: One-time letter winner

Lawrence Thomas

HT: 6-3 WT: 305

Position: Defensive Tackle

Experience: One-time letter winner

2012 Season: The Spartans are still feeling the loss of Jerel Worthy and this fall they will need to find major improvement from the two inside defensive line positions. Reynolds brings the physical size needed to man the nose and the days of him going back and forth from offensive line to defense are over.

Kittredge saw action in 13 games, including five starts and showed promise in his first year back on the field since his transfer into the Spartans program.

Thomas also appeared in 13 games with action as a fullback, after moving from linebacker to defensive end at the start of last season. But the time the season ended, Thomas made the move to defensive tackle leading up to the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
