On Saturday, Indianapolis Decatur Central offensive tackle Lukayus McNeil will make his second visit to East Lansing in the past two weeks.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound offensive tackle was on campus last Wednesday, but a key staff member was missing, leading him to come back.
"I want to meet the head coach and talk to the head coach," McNeil said. "He wasn't there last time, he was at Big Ten meetings."
McNeil did enjoy his prior visit, though, and said one thing in particular stuck with him about Michigan State.
"Actually, I loved everything," he said. "I can say the best thing I liked was how they players acted around me. Well, one player in particular, I don't remember his name, though. After I asked him a question, he couldn't stop smiling and was so happy to be there and he didn't know me or anything. He just talked to me so happy and like a regular person.
"He was telling me how he really likes the school and everything else and how he couldn't see himself any other place and couldn't stop talking about it. I was just asking a question, but he just gave me all of it."
McNeil also was given a tour of campus by coach Dave Warner. He hopes good news comes for him in the form of an offer during his visit Saturday.
As someone who grew up with Michigan ties – he was born in Flint – a Michigan State offer would mean something for him.
"That's where most of my family lives, Michigan, so a lot of my family roots for Michigan State," McNeil said. "I watch a lot of games."
McNeil said he is taking his time visiting schools, with a visit set up for North Carolina State on Wednesday.
"I'm visit all of my offer schools, so I am just going to keep visiting until I find the right place," he said. "I'm going to wait it out and see which one is the best for me."
